The key to succeed now and at any time is to have the positive mindset that carries you forward. When the chips are down who is going to ensure your survival? Ultimately the buck stops with us when we have our own business or if we are a Director or senior manager in a business. If we drop our shoulders and feel defeated or deflated what message does it send to ourselves and to others? However tough things can seem somewhere inside us lies the seed of a or the solution. It can take a while to find it but it is there.
Remembering what values we hold and what our purpose is can perhaps kick start the process. Write it down and revisit it to ensure that you have captured it fully. Look at the big picture, forget the details for now. What does it look like? What needs to change? Once you feel it’s about right and there is no value in seeking perfection. Good enough will do make a picture of it –draw it or make a Vision board (take a piece of cardboard A3 in size and cut out images that represent what you see in your vision and glue them to the board. Keep adding to it and look at this every day. Keep this visible as a reminder of what or where your focus needs to be placed. Our thoughts affect how we feel and act. And our emotions affect what we think and do and what we do (our behaviour) affects how we think and feel. Together these go round in a loop so we can jump in anywhere and affect our mindset positively. So that by taking these with our vision board we can ensure that we have the set of emotions, feelings and behaviours which will take us forward to succeed.
Now go back to where you started from. How much has your perspective changed? Regular focus will help you to find your path through the maze. The business environment is said to be volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous and whilst we are hardwired as humans to not deal with ambiguity and uncertainty well we can look at ourselves and find that the solutions do indeed lie within.
